Experience Spring in DC Near BeechTree

Spring is in the air, and the Nation’s Capital is gorgeous this time of year.

After the dreary winter we’ve had, springtime promises to be refreshing and full of fun. You don’t have to go far from BeechTree to find great ways to get out and see the spring in full bloom in the DC area.

Looking for some great spring color? Visit the U.S. National Arboretum. See the beautifully kept gardens and learn more about nature and conservation. Guided tours are available, or just explore on your own. Admission is free and the grounds are open Friday through Monday from 8am to 5pm.

Animals love spring, too! Head downtown to the Smithsonian National Zoo and see how the animals are enjoying the warmer weather. A perennial favorite, the educational animal exhibits are sure to please the whole family. The lion cubs are turning 1, and there are plenty of other animals to delight kids of all ages. Best of all, it’s free and Metro accessible.

If you’re looking for a more active adventure this spring, it’s available just down the street at Patuxent River Park. This huge park has so many options for getting outside and enjoying some great natural fun.The park is full of beautiful trees, birds and scenery. Fishing, boating, kayaking, hiking or just a picnic  — it’s all here, and it’s very close to BeechTree.

There’s so much to do in the DC area without going far from home. Find your springtime outdoor adventure and shake off the last of the winter blues.
