Great Events That Honor Our Service Men and Women Near BeechTree This Memorial Day Weekend

Amid all the swimming and backyard barbecues around Memorial Day, remember to take some time this weekend to recognize the sacrifice of our service members.

Fortunately, BeechTree’s ideal location offers you plenty of opportunities to join in remembrances around our nation’s capital. If you’re looking for a quick rundown of Memorial Day weekend events in the D.C. area, Washington.org is a great resource. From wreath laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery to concerts and parades, they’ve got 10 of the area’s best events on their list.

Attend a free concert on the National Mall — “A Musical Celebration of Peace” — commemorating the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII and the 150th anniversary of the end of the Civil War.

The National Memorial Day Choral Festival also takes place over the Memorial Day weekend. Presented by the American Veterans Center and Music Celebrations International, the National Memorial Day Choral Festival began in 2008 to honor our veterans. This event takes place annually at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

You can also see marching bands from every branch of the armed forces and veteran’s organizations at the National Memorial Day Parade. The parade starts at 2 pm at the corner of Constitution Avenue and 7th Street, NW, proceeding west down Constitution, past the White House and ending at 17th Street.

You don’t have to travel far to participate in all the great events that D.C. has to offer. Living at BeechTree means that you’re close to all of the action when there are big events in the Nation’s Capital, so you won’t miss a thing.
